This year, for the first time, The International Association of Laboratory Schools (IALS) is offering our international members and friends an opportunity to tour with us, visiting 5 Laboratory Schools in the United States in April of 2015. The idea of the international tour comes in response to frequent questions and requests about how to visit, learn from, be inspired by, and share with some of the leading schools that are connected to universities. The 5 Laboratory Schools on our pilot tour in 2015 are on the campuses of Columbia University, Bank Street College of Education, Carnegie Mellon University, The University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Chicago. Never before have our Lab Schools opened their doors in quite this way – a traveling tour that will give a glimpse of excellence in various contexts across universities. Please click the link below for information about the tour and contact me if you would like more information about available spaces, our limited travel support funds for international participants, or your involvement. I look forward to hearing from you,

2014 Annual Conference
Lab Schools and the 3 R’s: Reflect, Reframe, Reform
April 2-4 2014 in New York City
• Teachers College, Columbia University
• The School at Columbia University
• Bank Street School for Children
• Hunter College Campus Schools
These themes are framed to guide us in looking back, forward, inward, and outward. It is a time to look back at the best of our past practices (Reflect). It is also a time to look forward and to consider the role of laboratory and university affiliated schools in furthering a 21st century education agenda in our schools and communities (Reframe). We must also acknowledge how the world has changed and actively create socially just, student-centered, research-based communities where all children will thrive (Reform). As educational leaders we are charged with leading the way to a better tomorrow.
